THE STORY

On November 30th 2010, LURE Salon's co-owner, Dan Nguyen, was diagnosed with leukemia.  When a loved one is suddenly faced with the diagnosis of a blood cancer, you desperately want to hear that there is hope and that a treatment is available. We are so grateful for the Hematology Clinical Research Trials Unit and their commitment to provide patients with the newest and best treatments available.  Without their dedication, Dan wouldn’t be here with us.

The struggle of people and familes affected by leukemia has insipired us to give back.  In 2011 and 2012 we hosted a “Cut for the Cure” and raised $30,000.  Last year we spearheaded our very first Beautify Me Vancouver and raised $60,000.

This is our second year of Beautify Me Vancouver and we hope to surpass last years total!

Please join us on April 24, 2014 at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in the Sapphire Room.  Doors open at 6:30pm.

Thank you for your support,

LURE Team

More Reasons Why We Support the Hematology (Blood Cancers) Division at VGH:

  • Every year in BC, over two thousand adults are diagnosed with a blood disease such as leukemia, myeloma or any number of other blood cancers.

  • VGH is the provincial centre for hematology, adults come from across BC for the best and most progressive diagnosis, care and treatment.

  • The most effective way to improve the outcomes for patients with blood cancers and diseases is through clinical trials where new and improved drugs and treatments can be tried and tested by patients. VGH is widely considered the leading Canadian centre for hematology research and is the only place in BC where blood cancers and diseases clinical trials are being conducted.

  • Hematology Research Clinical Trials Unit at VGH was started by donor funding and it is through community support that it continues.

  • Together we can improve the lives of those facing blood cancers and diseases in our province.
